Vulnerability management is key to running a secure network. The first step in managing vulnerability is to assess security vulnerabilities in your organization’s systems and software. The best way to do this is through a vulnerability assessment.

A vulnerability assessment is a valuable tool for identifying and mitigating potential security risks in a network. Domain Technology Group has extensive experience in data breach assessment and vulnerability analysis and can keep your data and critical systems safe.

Domain takes the following steps to effectively test a network’s vulnerabilities:

We start by conducting an inventory of the system and identifying the scope of the assessment. We will determine which devices, systems, and networks need to be assessed. This could include servers, workstations, network devices (such as routers and switches) operating systems, including software installed and any cloud-based infrastructure.

Before beginning the assessment, we will gather information about the network and assign a level of importance to each component of the network such as IP addresses, operating systems, and software versions. Domain will use this information to configure the assessment tools and tailor the assessment to the specific network environment.

Next, our service will use a combination of automated and manual testing methods to identify vulnerabilities. We use tools such as vulnerability scanners to identify any known vulnerabilities and discern whether any of the components are susceptible to any of these vulnerabilities. Manual testing can be used to identify unknown vulnerabilities.

When the testing has been completed, we will identify and prioritize vulnerabilities. The list of vulnerabilities in a system can be long so we prioritize them based on their severity and potential impact of danger that could be imposed on the organization if the vulnerability were to be successfully exploited. We also determine how easy it would be for a hacker to take advantage of that vulnerability and whether the existing security controls could reduce risk. The goal here is to mitigate risk quickly and effectively.

Once the scan has identified the vulnerabilities in the network, the level of risk for component is recorded. Domain will implement security measures and patch control including applying software patches, configuring firewalls, or implementing access controls. Our carefully designed strategies result in airtight cyber security that will maintain a safe and secure network for your organization.

In addition we will regularly monitor and test the network to ensure that vulnerabilities have been effectively mitigated and that new vulnerabilities have not been introduced. We will work with you to create a plan for ongoing vulnerability management to ensure that the network remains secure over time.  This will include regular vulnerability assessments, monitoring and testing, as well as incident response procedures in case of a security breach. Domain will conclude your vulnerability assessment by providing training to all employees on cybersecurity practices which will make them aware of potential risks and how to avoid them.
